He is a member of the prestigious Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Indirect Taxes) and has made significant contributions throughout his career. Notably, as Chairman and Member of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC), he pioneered projects that improved compliance in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system. He is a recipient of Presidential Award for Meritorious Service for exemplary service done to the nation. B.R. Balakrishnan
B.R. Balakrishnan, the designated partner of Naipunya Global Tax Centre LLP, has a distinguished career as a civil servant in the esteemed Indian Revenue Service (IRS) (Income Tax). With extensive experience and a strong commitment to public service, Mr. Balakrishnan has held significant positions within the Indian government, including The Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax and Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Karnataka and Goa and has held important positions in Mumbai and Chennai also. He has been conferred a Special award of the Election Commission for Expenditure Monitoring during the Tamil Nadu Assembly election 2016 which was handed over by the Hon’ble President of India. He has also been conferred the Finance Minister’s Award for sustained devotion, commitment to duty and promoting excellence in the field of direct taxes at National level from the Hon’ble Finance Minister. He is known for his integrity, professionalism, and expertise in direct tax laws. He brings in his exemplary experience after having dealt with extreme complexities in various Income tax Search and Seizure matters. He has acumen for finding solutions to intricate tax problems.
